How Do People Mine?
People mine all over the world. Whether you are finding your gold with a shovel and a gold pan, or large equpitment like a sluce box or a mining trommel, it takes a lot of hard work to mine gold. A gold pan is one of the most basic ways of mining gold. A little gold flaked dirt and some water and you can manually get the gold out of the dirt. Since gold is heavier than the dirt, as you mix it with the water and slowly, but surly, the gold will sink to the bottom and you can wash the water out, leaving you with a pan of gold, like this one:
With alittle more skill and money, you can get some more heavier equiptment to mine your gold, like a sluce box and a trommel. A trommel is a large rotating bin that gets the large peices of rock out of the mix of gold and dirt. the mixture sloshes around and gets rid of the large boulders. the heavy gold sinks to the bottom. Next that mixture goes through a sluce box, which is a long plane that the mixture runs across. It is tilted at a precise angle, and has a lot of ridges, where they heavy gold get stuck, and the water and dirt keeps running off till it goes off the edge.
After you are done running all of the gold and dirt, you would clean the gold-filled ridges and process that though a more precise trommel and sluce box or from paning all of the dirt. In the end you have gold!
